Longitudinal cutting solutions

Longitudinal cutting solutions are used to split a roll into several narrower rolls, trim the edges or specific areas of the web, or even perforate to create pre-cuts. Different cutting methods are available depending on the material and production volume.

Cutting module based on web material

Plastic or synthetic material cutting

Synthetic materials require cutting with a fine-edge blade. As these materials are non-abrasive, the blade life is extended, making it easier to work with this type of blade.

Paper or fiber cutting

Paper is highly abrasive due to its fibrous structure, which demands a more sophisticated method to ensure a clean cut. This is achieved by motorizing circular knives to generate a scissor effect during the cut.

Longitudinal cutting solutions for plastic or synthetic materials

Crush cut with circular blade against anvil
This cutting system is known for its versatility in processing a wide range of materials. It is based on a circular blade pressing against a hardened anvil roller. The material passes through this contact zone and is cut by the pressure against the edge. This system can also be used for pre-cuts.
Razor blade slitting
Probably the most popular system for cutting plastics due to its simplicity and precision. Razor blades cut in free air, by interference with the material, without the need for additional components.

Crush cut with circular blade against anvil
This system is also compatible with materials such as paper, and is ideal for low to medium production. The cutting principle is based on a circular blade pressing against a hardened anvil roller; the material passes between them and is cut by pressure.
Shear slitting with circular knives
A high-performance system, ideal for cutting materials like paper and fibers. It requires motorized knives to operate.
